Shaoli (Chinese: 少黎) was a Taiwanese assassin for the Hong Yiban who appears in both "The Cold-Blooded Killer Acte 1" and "The Cold-Blooded Killer Acte 2". She primarily uses her fingernails to fight, as she uses a special kind of poisonous red nail polish to scratch her foes and suffocate them, a technique which was previously practiced by her family, the Lai. She is known as "The Cold-Blooded Killer" by the Triads, and referred to as "Poisonous Insect" by both Chloe and Altena. Her goal is to eliminate Noir.

AppearanceEdit

Shaoli is fair-skinned, with dark purple hair and a mid-length bob. She has brown, almond-shaped eyes and long, thin eyebrows. Her main outfit consists of a light blue V-neck T-shirt under an open, cropped, black leather jacket, leather leggings, and black high-heel boots. She wears red lipstick and red nail polish, which causes one to be unable to breathe if her nails make contact with their skin. At the beginning of the first episode, she is seen wearing black rimless sunglasses. During her meeting with Yun Shutong, she wears a blue qipao with pink flowers and a purple and yellow butterfly embroidered on it.

PersonalityEdit

As her nickname suggests, Shaoli is very cold. She finds pleasure in killing those who stand in her way, and is seductive in her mannerisms. She often acts in corrupt ways, killing members of the Hong Yiban, who she works for in order to get on the good side of the Soldats. She cares for little other than personal gain, shown by her disloyalty to the Hong Yiban and the remorseless and joyous way she kills her foes. She is crafty as well, often finding ways to disorient or incapacitate her opponents.

RoleEdit

Shaoli appears in both "actes" of "The Cold-Blooded Killer".

The first episode begins with a Chinese foreign minister, Minister Song, walking out of a temple, accompanied by two bodyguards, one of whom (Yun Shutong), belongs to the Hong Yiban. A black coupe, with Shaoli inside, pulls up in front of the temple. As Minister Song walks down the steps leaving the temple, Shaoli, wearing sunglasses, bumps into him while walking up, apologizing after dropping a handkerchief. They both reach for the handkerchief, their hands meeting, but he manages to pick it up and hand it to her. Shaoli thanks him as she walks away towards the temple. Minister Song notices that his hand has a cut right where Shaoli's nails met his hand, and stops as he violently trembles on the steps. He grasps his throat and suffocates on the steps. Shaoli turns around, taking off her glasses and giving a satisfied smirk in the direction of the dying Minister Song.

The Hong Yiban are then seen discussing an urgent matter while sitting around a table, with Shaoli sitting at a table away from them. Ho Lishin explains that although Shaoli was able to take out Minister Song, who was acting on behalf of the Soldats, the Soldats discovered that it was the Hong Yiban who were behind the assassination, and are attempting to destroy them. They also find out that Noir is in Taiwan, and plans to meet with a man who is working for the Soldats. Ho turns to ask Shaoli if she will be capable of killing Noir, to which she replies that she will. She explains that although Noir is "the thousand-year old darkness of Europe", the Triads' roots go back two thousand years. She also reveals that her family, the Lai, have a foolproof method of poisoning.

Mireille and Kirika meet with the man from the Soldats at a temple, while Hong Yiban assassins begin pulling up outside. Shaoli is seen painting her nails red in the same black coupe which she arrived at the temple in.

As the man from the Soldats tries to escape on the balcony of the temple, he is stopped by Shaoli, who throws a rock at him to disorient him and then holds his pistol so that he is unable to fire it. She tells him that he is no longer needed as she pokes his forehead with her nail, killing him nearly instantly.

Mireille then goes onto the balcony where the man was killed, only to be ambushed by Shaoli, who pushes her off of the top of a tall hill. As Mireille, who fell onto the roof of another temple, struggles to reach for her pistol, her hand is stepped on by Shaoli, who stares down at her and smirks while flashing her red nails.

At the start of the second episode, Mireille has been captured, and Shaoli grazes her hand over her body. She decides not to kill Mireille, and instead suggests that it would be better to use her as bait to lure Kirika so as to be able to kill them both.

Shaoli, Mireille, and several men who hold Mireille at gunpoint walk down a flight of stairs. However, they are stopped by Kirika and Chloe, who kill the henchmen. Shaoli walks away from the slaughter, but not before turning around to look at and show her nails to Chloe.

After the fight, Ho Lishin and the rest of the Hong Yiban officers sit around a table. Ho Lishin walks outside, only to be met by Shaoli. He was convinced that she was dead, and says that she does not deserve the name "Cold-Blooded Killer" since she failed at her mission. She begins to walk towards him and kills him off-screen.

She is then seen sitting at a table with another, empty seat. There is incense on the table. Yun Shutong enters, and she invites him to sit with her. However, he declines, saying that he would rather not be in proximity of the "claws" of the Cold-Blooded Killer. He then compliments her on her job of silencing Ho, to which she replies by explaining that Ho was the only one that knew Yun was "the informant". She goes on to reveal that she found out that Yun works for the Soldats, but at the same time, he leaks information that he gathers from the Soldats to the Triads. He commends her for her work, but as he proceeds to leave, he grasps his neck and begins to suffocate. Shaoli explains that the incense in the room is actually poisonous, and that she is killing him so that she can gain entry to the Soldats by killing the person who was leaking the Soldats' information.

Chloe later enters a seemingly abandoned warehouse that Shaoli is waiting in. Shaoli explains to Chloe that Yun was leaking information from the Soldats to the Triads, but Chloe has no reaction. Shaoli begins to get upset that Chloe is not responding the way she wanted her to, while Chloe explains that the Soldats have no need of Shaoli. In a fit of rage, Shaoli lunges at Chloe to scratch her. However, Chloe catches her mid-lunge and stabs her, killing her.

WeaponEdit

Shaoli typically used her fingernails to kill her enemies, to which she applied a special red nail polish that had suffocating abilities. In the second episode she appeared in, she used an incense to kill Yun Shutong that suffocated him.
